Family Roots

Jack Moshcatel began Earthworks Landscape Services, Inc. in 1969. Jack's son, Michael, joined the family business in 1977 and helped guide its growth to become one of the largest locally owned landscape firms in western Washington. Jack retired in 2013 at the age of 85, and Michael continued operating Earthworks to carry on the legacy that Jack started.

Reaching New Heights

Earthworks was founded in 1969 as a residential lawn care company based in Seattle. Over the years we expanded our services to include complete landscape maintenance and installation services.

In 1977 we took our first steps into the commercial market, and also expanded our construction services by offering drainage and irrigation systems, as well as annual flower displays, and interior plant installation and maintenance.

In 1984, we decided to concentrate solely on the commercial market and the course was charted to grow Earthworks into what is now one of the largest locally owned full-service landscape firms in Western Washington.

In 1988, a landscape designer was hired and a separate construction division was created to provide planning and design services for the enhancement needs of our client base. Supervisors were added at each branch to oversee the enhancement projects and ensure quality workmanship. Our early years of learning all aspects of landscaping gave us the foundation to become a truly full-service landscape firm.

As the Puget Sound area expanded and our company grew, Earthworks added a branch in Sumner in 1990.

We opened a 3rd branch in Bellevue in 1997 to more efficiently accommodate our expanding customer base and service area.

In 2005 we built a new corporate office and moved our North branch to Mukilteo.

In 2013 we purchased the old Hayes Nursery property and moved our eastside operations from Bellevue to Issaquah.

With each expansion, an area manager was hired to run the day-to-day operations, and shortly thereafter, supervisors were added to help maintain quality standards. Each of Earthwork’s managers has over 20 years in the landscape industry, with a broad array of knowledge and experience in both landscape maintenance and installation to handle any of our client’s needs. Combining this experience with our commitment to service has allowed us to continue to grow without sacrificing our principles and philosophy.
